Is CBD the Cure For Depression?

Is CBD the Cure For Depression?

Have you ever experienced pain for so long that you thought you would never feel normal again? I know it sounds like I’m being overly dramatic but let me tell you, this was the reality of my life for almost 11 years. I honestly felt as though I was going to lose my mind.

Let me give you a little bit of history. Eleven years ago, I was involved in a terrible car accident. That car accident changed my life in so many ways.

I was on my way to work, like any other weekday morning. It was a beautiful May morning, and I was looking forward to getting off work and going for an early evening run. Little did I know at that moment that rather than a few hours, it would be more than a decade before I would be able to run again.

Less than two blocks from my office, I was hit broadside (T-boned) by a huge red Ford F-150 truck, on the driver’s side of my vehicle. The driver of the truck had decided to have “a few” beers after getting off his third shift job and breezed through a red light that he said he “just didn’t see”. My car was totaled and I found myself confined to a hospital bed for just over a month, lucky to be alive.

For the next year, I had to undergo painful physical therapy sessions three times a week just to be able to stand and walk again. I was encouraged by two doctors to have back surgery to avoid health issues that I would “in all likelihood” experience int he future. All of this happened through a blazing haze of constant pain that no medication could alleviate in the least.

As bad as the physical pain was, I think the depression I experienced was almost worse, or at least just as bad. At first I thought it was just a bad mood, or maybe even me feeling sorry for myself over all the things I could no longer do. After mentioning it to my physician one day, he informed me that I was experiencing depression, and he recommended a therapist who could help me.

The therapist referred me to the psychiatrist she worked with, who diagnosed me with severe depression and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. He prescribed antidepressants and a sleep aid for me. I ended up feeling and acting like a zombie whenever I could manage to stay awake.

I thought I would eventually get accustomed to the medication and it would not affect me so strongly. The effects did not change, and I deduced that the only reason the medication kept me from being depressed was that it caused me to sleep most of the time. When I was awake, I couldn’t concentrate on anything for more than a few moments at a time, and I hated it.

I refused to even consider back surgery, despite the terrible pain and the fact that it was all but certain I would never be able to run again, let alone compete in my beloved charity marathons. I had read enough articles and talked to enough people who had undergone back surgery to know that it was a very risky operation that sometimes did more harm than good. I resigned myself to the fact that I accepted the fact that, barring a miracle, I would have to learn to live with the near-debilitating pain for the rest of my life.

Ten years and 7 months later, I found my miracle. A friend shared an article with me about CBD and its effectiveness in relieving serious pain, including chronic pain. To be completely honest, I didn’t hold out much hope. It all just sounded like a bunch of hype to me.

I read everything I could get my hands on about CBD and the results people were experiencing with it. It sounded too good to be true, especially since it was said to treat depression and other similar mental health issues as well as physical pain. Thousands and thousands of people shared their experiences with CBD oil and edibles.

I finally decided it couldn’t hurt to at least give it a try. There was so much evidence to prove its abilities. I have never been happier about a decision in my life.

For those of you who haven’t heard much about it. CBD is all-natural, and although it does come from the cannabis plant, more commonly known as the marijuana plant, it does not have any kind of a “high” effect whatsoever. CBD is an effective pain reliever that you don’t have to worry about becoming addicted to, and it helps with mental health issues as well.

I began to feel relief from the pain I had been in literally for years with the first use of CBD. Each day brought more relief and more hope that I just might live a normal life again at some point. I was afraid that at any moment I was going to wake up and discover it had all been a dream and that I was still suffering.

When I realized that my mental fog was quickly disappearing, I told my psychiatrist that I was no longer interested in taking the psychotropic medications any longer. I replaced those medications with CBD oil, and I was completely in awe.

Thanks to CBD I can now walk without having to stop and take a break every 10 minutes or so. I have started an exercise routine again, I feel joy and hope every day, and I now know that one day in the near future I will be ready to run again since there will be no more pain that will make me feel as though I’m going to pass out. I know that without CBD I would still be suffering every day.

I am a real person, not a salesperson or someone who has anything at all to gain from speaking up and sharing what this incredible product has done for me. My hope is that other people who are suffering from chronic pain and other issues will try it and make the same discovery that I made. This is truly an amazing answer to many, many prayers.

Let me ask you, if you are dealing with debilitating pain, neurological disorders, mental health issues like depression, anxiety, or stress, how happy would you be to find an all-natural, highly effective treatment that has no side effects and zero danger of dependence or addiction? Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to stop taking the synthetic pain medications that come with so many unpleasant side effects and can put you at risk of becoming addicted? If so, CBD is the answer to your prayers.

The formal name of CBD is Cannabidiol. It comes in several forms for use. These include oil, capsules/pills, topical creams, vapes for smoking, and edibles such as gummy candies.

CBD has been shown to relieve many conditions, both mental and physical, including epilepsy and other seizure conditions. It has even shown promise in treating cancer by killing cancer cells while protecting and strengthening healthy ones. It relieves the negative effects associated with chemotherapy in cancer patients.

Some people have great success with prescription medications in treating their mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, stress, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and more. Although the synthetic medications help, oftentimes the patient experiences unpleasant side effects from them such as nausea, loss of appetite, anxiety/paranoia, insomnia, etc. CBD helps to alleviate these unwanted and often dangerous side effects.

CBD works by interacting with the serotonin receptors in the brain. Serotonin is a natural chemical in the brain that is commonly known as a “feel good” chemical, responsible for our feelings of happiness and well-being. When our natural levels of serotonin are not as high as they should be, we begin to experience feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and depression.

CBD keeps the body’s serotonin levels at healthy levels. This brings relief from depression and other mental health issues. Lives are being changed by this amazing compound.

CBD works to relieve pain and inflammation in much the same way. It binds the pain receptors in the body so as to reduce the effects of pain and bring relief. This includes chronic pain and other harmful chronic conditions.

There are several other benefits of using CBD. These include relief from the effects of neurological disorders, improving heart health by relieving hypertension (high blood pressure) and stress. CBD has shown promise as a treatment for substance abuse because of its ability to intercede in the processes of the brain circuitry related to addiction.

Pros of using CBD Products:

Cons of using CBD Products :

Had I not experienced the incredible effects of this substance myself, I seriously doubt that I would have believed that it could work so well no matter where I read it or who I heard it from. I can only tell you, as someone who experienced YEARS of some of the most terrible pain anyone can imagine, this stuff works! It is safe, it is effective, and it is easy to use.

I have to say, in a world where drug addiction has become a deadly epidemic, CBD is a godsend. Not only does it pose no threat of dependence or addiction, but it has also shown promise and is being studied for its ability to disrupt the mental and physical processes that cause addiction. This is a miracle in itself and makes CBD worth more than its weight in gold for addicts, their families, and society as a whole.

I sincerely hope that every one of you reading this will take my words to heart and try this incredible treatment. New benefits of CBD are being discovered all the time. I’m excited to see how many people can be helped by a mild-mannered little plant.

Oh, and as for me? I start training in one week for my next marathon!
